DRDA employees seek cancellation of advertisement
ITANAGAR, May 11: The state unit of All India DRDA Staff Welfare Association has sought cancellation of the recruitment of TA (RE/IWWP), TA (Agri & Allied) and EI which was published on May 8 last.
The seven month salary of 582 DRDA employees is still pending and the department instead of addressing the issue is going ahead with recruiting more employees, it said in its representation submitted to the Commissioner Rural Development department. It sought cancellation of the advertisement.
Govt. employees opposed to 1 day salary deduction
ITANAGAR, May 11: The All Arunachal Pradesh Government Employees Welfare Association is opposed to the deduction of one day salary from the government employees for Nepal earthquake relief fund as announced by the Confederation of Service Association of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP). It wrote a letter to the Governor seeking nullification of CoSAAP’s announcement.
Referring to it as an arbitrary decision by the CoSAAP, it said that donation can be collected through cash and kind individually.
While stating the financial crisis the state is facing, it came down heavily on CoSAAP, saying that many of the government employees are reeling under financial pressure.
AAPKGBVYTA seeks salary
ITANAGAR, May 11: All Arunachal Pradesh Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Teacher’s Association (AAPKGBYTA) has requested for immediate release of four months pending salary of KGBV teachers.
In its letter submitted to the Chief Secretary, the association stated of resorting to democratic movement if the demand is not fulfilled.
NAAC Peer team in RGU
ITANAGAR, May 11: A Peer team of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country, has reached Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills. The high level team will be meeting the University authorities, students, parents and alumni during their four day visit which ends on May 15.

Awareness prog on Domestic Violence Act
YUPIA, May 11: A one-
About 50 participants, including, Deputy Director ICDS Dani Yami, Doimukh ZPM Tana Yayo, SDO Ibom Tao, Advocate Nabam Reegum, OC (Doimukh Police Station) Padi Payang, CDPO Doimukh Tana Chammaro attended the programme.
Deputy Director ICDS Dani Yami briefed on PWDV Act and its objectives. She emphasized of the need to create awareness among womenfolk on the Act to make them aware about various provisions under the Act.
ZPM Tana Yayo spoke about the duties and responsibilities of a woman within the family and society as well.
SDO Ibom Tao encouraged the womenfolk to come forward and lodge complaint of domestic violence such as harassment, torture/cruelty by husband with police. He, however, suggested them not to misuse the Act.
Advocate Nabam Reegum dwelt at length about the provisions enshrined in PWDV Act, and explained the kinds of abuses.
OC Padi Payang enlightened the participants about various women friendly laws and self defense provisions under IPC.
Capacity building training on beauty culture
KOLORIANG, May 11: Capacity building training on beauty culture under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) for participants from Kurung Kumey and Kra Daadi districts commenced at GHSS School auditorium here today.
As many 45 trainees from the two districts are participating in the three weeklong training programme.

Society dissatisfied with road construction works
AALO, May 11: A team comprising members of All Ato Paktu Ao Welfare Society (AAPAWS) and its youth wing (PAYWA) led by former minister and president of AAPAWS Kento Ete inspected the on going road works within Aalo Township yesterday and expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of works.
The team after making a thorough inspection of the road expressed dismay over the poor quality of work.

Unseen election expenditure led to precarious fiscal situation: PPA
ITANAGAR, May 11: People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) stated that the current fiscal mess in the state is mainly due to spending huge unaccounted public money unmindfully during elections to buy potential rival candidates.
Just holding rally to dislodge a popularly elected Govt. to be replaced by another of the same content and character without any committed agenda to root out corruption from the state will have no significant meaning, said Kamen Ringu, Chairman CWC, PPA in a party meeting today.
“All the political parties, civil rights organizations, who today, seem to be concerned regarding the failing fiscal health of the state must first raise voices against these factors,” said Ringu in an apparent reference to a political rally organized by a national political party.
“While the political rally organized by the BJP state unit of Arunachal Pradesh against the misrule of Tuki led Govt. in the state is encouraging and laudable, the saffron party must examine deeper into the genesis of this whole issue”, he said.
Secretary General of the party, Kaling Jerang stated, "We all should be equally concerned about the virus of political defections of elected legislators quite rampant in the state. This is a disease which has stunted the growth of a democratic and powerful opposition political party in the state.
He called upon BJP to join hands with PPA in getting those defected PPA legislators disqualified as per the 10th Schedule of the Indian Constitution against whom disqualification petitions have been submitted to the Speaker of the Arunachal Assembly. ITANAGAR, May 11: Protesting against the state government for alleged mismanaged of funds leading to the financial crisis, the Arunachal Youth Organization (AYO), Youth Organization Movement of Arunachal (YOMA) and Save Arunachal Youth Association (SAYA) today staged a protest rally.

Highlighting the service of the ICCW for wellbeing of the children of the country, Ete informed that the scheme of National Awards to Children for bravery was started 57 years ago in the year 1957. At the beginning two children, a boy and a girl were first rewarded for their exemplary presence of mind and courage in 1957. Since then, ICCW decided to confer National Awards to children every year. She further said the main objective of the scheme is to give due recognition to the children who perform acts of bravery which inspire others.
ICCW also provides financial assistance under its Indira Gandhi Scholarship Scheme to those undertaking professional courses such as engineering and medicine and to others till they complete their graduation.

Rule of engagement in AFSPA relaxed considering local sentiment: AAPSU

ITANAGAR, May 11: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students, Union (AAPSU) today informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs had agreed to relax its rules of engagement while operation against outfits under Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA). Addressing press persons at Press Club here today, AFSPA Committee Chairman, Pritam Waii Sonam informed that the Home Minister has agreed that Armed Forces will not conduct random operation in the mentioned police station areas which fall under AFSPA without due consultation from local police and the village heads such as ASM and Gaon Burahs. The decision was made considering the local sentiment and to avoid unnecessary harassment of civilians, Sonam informed.
AAPSU team under the chairmanship of Pritam Waii Sonam and vice chairman (AFSPA Committee constituted by AAPSU) Tagru Tame along with President Kamta Lapung called on Union Minister of Home Rajnath Singh and Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju in New Delhi recently over extension of AFSPA in 12 districts bordering Assam.
Vice Chairman of AFSPA Committee Tagru Tame stated that AAPSU through the committee will closely watch on development of AFSPA within Arunachal and it will have its review meeting after the end of six month imposition of the law in Arunachal. AFSPA Committee also acknowledged the support extended by civil societies, organisations and resource persons on its movement for repealing of Armed Forces Special Power Acts (AFSPA). He assured that fight is not yet over till the total repeal, however he termed huge relief on partially lifting of AFSPA.
With the latest notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs on 5th May 2015, AFSPA will apply to 16 police stations of 9 districts bordering Assam.
Earlier AAPSU President Kamta Lapung stated that the apex students union will spearhead the movement against Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (APUAPA) with same spirit. “We have submitted our representation demanding total repeal of APUAPA”, said Lapung. He also exuded hope that people of Arunachal would extend their support to repeal the state enacted draconian law.
State Health Society conducts workshop for financial staff

Resources person Jayant Mandal, Financial Controller, NHM, Govt. of India, explained the modules of induction and orientation and budget module and preparation of programme implementation planning (PIP). He also informed that fund will be released pool wise to the state to make it hassle free.

Develop long term strategy
In an alarming news, the state of Arunachal Pradesh has emerged as the top illegal
poppy producers of the country. As per the data provided by Narcotics Control Bureau
(NCB) for the year 2014-
According to NCB officials, apart from Lohit and Anjaw districts, there have been reports of poppy cultivation from Changlang, Longding, Upper Siang and Tirap districts. However, as per the local police intelligentsia in some parts of Papum Pare bordering Lower Subansiri district poppy has been found to be illegally cultivated. The NCB report further adds that illegal cultivator violently resist the move to destroy the poppy field. In the recent past, this daily had also extensively reported about the incident of violent attack on govt. officials who make field visit to destroy the poppy crops. State government should provide proper police protection to the team who goes to destroy the illegal poppy field. Government should also take note of NCB report and work out long term strategies to fight against illegal opium grower.

Through your esteemed daily which is widely read in our state, I would like to ventilate my message and awaken my fellow Arunachalees. Since the advent of BJP led NDA govt in centre there are commotions in the state.
On the pretext of ‘Financial Mismanagement’ (as if they are not involved) many of our Congress leaders are resigning or compelling the state govt. to expel them from the party.
My friends don’t get mystified with their modest and humble behavior. There is no permanent friend and foe in politics. They are preparing themselves for the next Parliamentary & Assembly election. They are garnering support and sympathy from the innocent public (as they know well how to carry away the emotions of public) by exposing the state government. The irony here is, the public shall accept them as if they are Messiah. Are they?
They will surely contest the next elections with BJP ticket. This culture was started
by our 1st C.M. P.K Thungon ministry when they changed the party from Congrees-
Now it’s our time to act by not electing them in the next election. Again the irony

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to express my estimation regarding the
present disturbing and deteriorating condition of Arunachal Pradesh. In recent days,
financial mismanagement and corruption are getting highly pronounced in Arunachal
Pradesh. On one side ruling government Congress clarifies that there is no financial
constraint. On other side, there is huge hue and cry over mismanagement of financial
affairs. No doubt, the economy of Arunachal Pradesh has been dead in water for some
years for one or other reasons. The main reasons of this prevalence are absence of
strong opposition party and parochial-
To be fair, this financial constraint is not a new phenomenon in Arunachal Pradesh, it has been and it is always familiar with the Arunachal Pradesh because of soft and loose attitude of the Centre government towards developmental activities of the State. Congress government did never inquire about feedback of the developmental schemes, if asked it was easily manageable by any means. This all happened and happens due to deficit of voxpopuli. As a result, economic disparity is predominant in our State.
For instance, most of the present MLAs and Ministers are crorepatis and living in luxurious life, while the most educated youth are wandering to and fro even for an unskilled job at private institution whole day and night.
What a gloomy condition it is! On other hands, bureaucrats are leaving no option to swindle developmental scheme in their pockets. The recent issue of APPSC debacle is enough to substantiate to this point. Very often it recalls famous quotation of Lord Acton “power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men”.
